Dancer Code of Conduct - Premier One Dance Conservatory

1. I will respect my instructors and do as they ask without negative reactions or emotions.

2. I will respect the decisions made by my instructors in class and in choreography. I recognize my reaction may reflect poorly on me.

3. I will practice good sportsmanship before, during, and after all conventions, competitions, and performances.

4. I will not harass or participate in harassing behavior at any time towards my teammates, instructors, or any of the Water Street Dance staff.

5. I will handle winning with class and losing with grace. A dancer's character is shown through handling both winning and losing with similar reflection and appreciation.

6. I will never quit. I will always give my best in rehearsal and on stage. My teammates deserve nothing less.

7. I will work hard even when no one is watching. My work ethic is based on hard work.

8. I will always treat rehearsals seriously to become the best dancer I can be.

9. I will practice self-control and setting a positive example for others, especially younger dancers. I will not get down on myself or others when things are not going my way.

10. I will always support and encourage my teammates. I will be helpful and courteous, treating my teammates how I want to be treated.

11. I will represent Premier One Dance Conservatory with class. I understand that my actions will reflect either positively or negatively on the company and my teammates.

12. I will treat the Studio and other venues with respect and will not vandalize them in any way.

13. I will embrace the opportunities I receive within the pieces I have been chosen for and will not feel sorry for myself or complain in any way.

14. All premier performers must maintain a B average to dance. Company and Team members grades must be higher to compete. Report Cards are reviewed twice a year for all company and team members. Our instructors prepare an annual parent-teacher skilled level meeting for all parents and students to allow parents to see and know the progress of their dancers. All dancers are prepped and tested annually. PODC progress report system is a form and personal view allowing our PODC parents to witness the progress of their dancer. After the winter performance, progress reports go home to parents. These reports will give our parents an idea of what goes into the dance room and what magic takes place behind closed doors. This will give you more insight into what your dancer needs to work on or what they will be working on. After the winter performance, progress reports go home to parents. These annual reports also will let the parent know if their child is up for an audition or needs to take more classes. We are a progressive training Conservatory: our students are promoted on their talent and their strengths. Private classes are set aside to challenge our students. Parents can sign up for classes at any time, especially if their child is behind. Majority of parents sign up for private lessons for more one on one attention to boost their dancer quicker. Private classes are designed to help students get to the top, to grow at a faster pace. If you would like a private class for your dancer, reach out to their teacher after classes finish.

15. I will learn from my mistakes and use them as opportunities to learn and grow. I will do my best to follow this code of conduct. I understand that repeated violations of these rules could result in removal from performance and competitive opportunities, or from the company depending on the severity of the violation. I understand that Premier One Dance Conservatory strives to have an atmosphere of mutual respect, camaraderie, and fun. I understand these rules and will always treat my teammates, instructors, and staff well.
